E-books
I prefer e-books to paper. I love that my Kindle always has hundreds of books on it.
No Fantasy for Me
I have no interest in the fantasy genre. I used to love it, but I’ve completely lost interest in it.
I’m a muggle who hasn’t (or will) read Harry Potter
I will not, nor have I ever, read the Harry Potter series. I also haven’t seen the movies.
Books are always better than the movies that come later
There are a few exceptions (Jurassic Park and Hunger Games).
First person, please
I don’t prefer books written in the third person. I find it much easier to connect with a character when the book is told from their point of view.
The shorter, the better
I don’t care for books longer than 400 pages. As a romance reader, it just doesn’t need to be that long to be a good story.
My son is YA age, so that genre is out
I have a hard time reading YA and college age stories now that my son is that age. I used to really love them.
No virgins
If I see the word virgin either in the summary or a review on goodreads, I’m out. Not a trope I’m interested in reading.
No shirt, I’m interested!
Much to my children’s dismay, I am attracted to covers with shirtless men.
I’ve mostly lost interest in Fantasy and YA too. Other stories just feel more real to me now.
I’m definitely losing interest in YA. I hope I never lose my love for fantasy though!
I think I’m slowly losing interest in YA contemporaries though I don’t have kids yet… but YA fantasy is still my favorite genre and I hope I continue loving them…
But the best part of your post which I loved is that I prefer ebooks too… Don’t know what I’ll do without my Kindle 😊😊
Thanks:)
I’ve tried and tried with fantasy but I just can’t. There have been a couple of rare exceptions but I finally had to quit forcing and realize the genre wasn’t for me. Contemporary is my genre and that’s that. Totally agree with first person POV. I definitely prefer that over 3rd.
Fantasy used to be my go to and I lost interest. I have tried again to no avail
I like ‘Harry Potter’ (books and movies) but I never got past the fourth book. I guess I just got distracted for a while and there’s so many other books to read out there. I’m not all that into the fantasy genre either (I enjoy them occasionally, but I usually prefer novels with realistic storylines) and I have to be REALLY into a book that’s more than 350 pages long. Great list! 🙂
Thanks
