I don’t know how Max Monroe does it, but they write the most beautiful stories, and The Girl in the Painting may just be may new favorite of them all.

Ansel Bray is an artist. A painter. A tragic accident leaves him not able to fulfill his passion for a while. Indy Davis is also an artist, but a musician, and a tragic accident leaves her unable to fulfill her passion.

This story is about two broken people who learn to love again under the most bizarre circumstances. You have to suspend a little reality (not in a bad way) to believe what’s going on.

There was one aspect I didn’t care for, but given the story, I was able to overlook it.

Ansel is the typical broody, angsty painter. He’s not a very nice guy in the beginning of the book. At all. He eventually begins to change when he meets Indy. She’s his person. Indy is a strong female character as well. I also loved Ansel’s brother, Bram, and would love to see him get his own story.

I can’t give much away about the story, because I want you to read it yourself, but these characters. My god, I loved both Ansel and Indy.

I can’t recommend this book enough. I was sucked in right from the beginning and I think you should check it out:)
