My first Laramie Brisco read was Trick, and I loved it. When I saw a new book by her, I jumped at the chance to read it. I did not love Ransom as much as I loved Trick.
Ransom is a detective with the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team, who has a K9 partner, Rambo. I seriously loved this aspect – a man with his dog. Ransom has had a thing for Stella (his boss’s daughter) for a long time now. He saves her from a bad situation and a relationship starts to bloom.
I liked Stella. She was a nurses assistant at a clinic. She was very kind. I liked her with Ransom. Their relationship developed without much drama or fanfare (there was one issue, but I won’t spoil). It was just kind of mundane.
My biggest issue with this book was the sheer number of characters I had to keep up with. There were SO many characters, and they all had nicknames. Sometimes she’d use their nicknames, and sometimes she would use their real names. I was very confusing, and quite frankly, caused me to lose a little interest in the story.
If you like sweet love stories with a man who loves a dog, this is your story. It was a cute story and I would recommend it.
I enjoyed your review and honesty–what you liked about the book and what interfered with reading it. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks
