Wellington Way.
My mother’s favorite motto wasn’t something I
bought into, even after watching each of my cousins fall hard and fast for
their women.
That all changed the night Alyssa Covington came into my life like a
whirlwind, showing me exactly what I’d been missing. It took just one night for
her to knock me on my ass, twist me inside out, and fall head over cock.
The morning after? She left without a second glance in her rearview
mirror. Fortunately for me, her sister’s marrying my cousin, and there’s no way
she can escape me now.
The only problem?
She wants nothing to do with me.
Little does Alyssa know, I never give up, even if I have to fight
My sister told me there was nothing like loving a Wellington. I didn’t
buy it.
Until I found out that stranger I gave my virginity to? Shane
He’s the antithesis of my dream man, yet it took just one night for me
to become addicted. Unfortunately for us, that perfect night led to a
disastrous morning after and I did what I do best. I ran, fooling myself by
thinking I could quickly get him out of my system.
When circumstances throw us together again, I can’t forget the time we
spent together. His piercing blue eyes hold me hostage, and I know the truth.
Shane and I aren’t over. Oh no, we’ve just begun.
The only problem?
It doesn’t matter what I want.
I can have nothing to do with him.
happens when the perfect one-night stand just isn’t enough?

3 stars

I’ve read all of the Explosive series and now all of the Wellington series, and I’m going to lay it out right now – I have struggled mightily to get through this book and it’s predecessor. I didn’t much care for Branson’s book because of Branson, but I struggled with this story because of the heroine, Alyssa.
Alyssa is a 25-year old virgin. I am not a fan of virgin stories, but I am a fan of this author, so I made an exception. Alyssa goes to the Florida panhandle for a vacation and meets a beautiful man she decides to give her virginity to. Turns out that man is the cousin who is marrying her sister.
That’s another issue I had with this book.  Branson’s book came out eons ago, but the timelines in this book overlap his book, so we rehashed Branson’s story again, which I didn’t like. I wasn’t a fan of his book the first time – why would I want to read it again?
Anyway, it turns out that Alyssa and Shane, the man she meets and sleeps with is her company’s main competition for some work. She refuses to start a relationship with Shane due to this – REALLY???
Honestly, it took FOREVER for Alyssa to get over herself and finally give Shane a chance. By this point, I could not understand why Shane even wanted anything to do with her. She was rude to him, literally ran away from him twice like a petulant child and used her job against him.
I was more interested in Alyssa’s roommate Bryan and his story than I was in hers. This story wasn’t very engaging. It dragged on forever – I honestly felt like it would never end. It was way too long.
I have really enjoyed Ms. Teevan’s work in the past, but I didn’t love this story. I did really like Shane. He was a nice guy, but his backstory wasn’t overly developed.
