From the New York Times bestselling author of Tapping the Billionaire comes a hilarious and sexy standalone about fate, chance, and one heck of an epically awkward meet-cute.
4th & Girl, an all-new standalone romantic comedy in the Mavericks Tackle Love series from Max Monroe, is available now!
I’m Leo Landry, one of the best shutdown cornerbacks in the nation, and the New York Mavericks’ first round draft pick.
If James Bond spent his days running drills and his nights shutting out quarterbacks, he’d dream about being me. But professional football is on a whole other level from college, and as the new guy, I’ve got everything to prove.
No problem.
All I’ve got to do is focus, right?
Too bad life’s got other plans.
Blond hair, long lashes, and criminal blue eyes, there’s a pint-sized bombshell that I can’t stop thinking about.
I don’t even know her name, but she’s completely screwing up my game plan.
It’s too late to turn back now though. I have my eye on the prize, and I won’t settle for anything less.
4th down and only one goal in my sights—this pretty little mystery girl.
Good thing I’m at my best when the pressure’s on.

I LOVE Max Monroe. I loved her Billionaire series, and sadly, this is the only book in this series I’ve read (but that will be rectified soon). I am a huge football fan, so a series about a football player – yes please.
Leo Landry is a rookie on the New York Mavericks. He has to provide urine for a test, and meets Gemma – the medical assistant and has a very awkward encounter with her. He doesn’t even get her name, yet he can’t stop thinking about her.
Gemma has had a bit of a rough go. She was close to finishing her degree in Engineering, which was never her dream, and she dropped out of school. She has had a string of temp jobs, none of which she has been successful at. She gets a job at a sex toy company, run by 80-year old Alma, and everything changes.
It takes a few months, but Leo finally finds his mystery girl, and they have an instant connection. Their first date is one for the ages – it’s funny and memorable. Their relationship moves kind of slow, but it’s ok; you’re excited to see how it turns out.
In typical Max Monroe fashion, this book is funny. There were lots of laugh out loud moments. I absolutely loved Alma. She was such am amazing character. Leo was also a great character. I would say both Leo and Gemma were written a little older than they were, but it wasn’t a bad thing..
Gemma’s insecurities were a little annoying after a while, but she was a likable character. And Leo, oh how I loved Leo. He was such a great character.
Overall, this was a really good read and I would recommend it.
