My Hot Boss by Betty Shreffler

Goodreads Summary

my hot bossEmma
From the moment I met Grayson Cole, I knew he was someone I wanted to let in my panties and maybe, even in my heart. One night, one sexy-as-sin kiss, and several drinks later, our incredible evening turns into a disaster and I’m apologizing for the vomit spatter on his fancy, black shoes. I never thought I’d see him again after that, no matter how many nights I spent wishing I would. Until a month later, he waltzes into my office as—MY NEW, HOT BOSS.
I’m so screwed.

She was meant to be a fun f*ck. That’s all I wanted. That’s all I needed. But Emma Williams could never be just that for me. The quirky, brunette vixen challenges me at every opportunity. My desire to have her has me working for her affections, like I’ve never done before. What is this woman doing to me? Not only am I her Boss, but I don’t do feelings. There’s only one way I see this ending.
I’m f*cked for sure.

4 out of 5 stars

I received an ARC of this book from Enticing Journey Promotions for an honest review.

Emma Williams is a book agent, and loves her job. She’s kind of married to it.  Her friend convinces her to go out for an evening, and she meets a beautiful man.  Turns out Emma had way too much to drink, and after a panty-melting kiss with the stranger, she ends up vomiting all over his expensive looking shoes.  The stranger, named Grayson, gives Emma his phone number, but while waiting for a taxi, she breaks her phone, and loses his number.

Fast forward one month.  Emma is told she has a new boss. He walks into her office, and to her surprise, it’s Grayson, the man on whom she vomited.  Cue humiliation.  Grayson is a little annoyed that he never heard from Emma, and when she tries to explain that her phone broke, Grayson doesn’t believe her.

Grayson is insanely attracted to Emma, but Emma has reservations about starting something with her boss, which is understandable.  The office slutbag, Rachel, has her sights on Grayson as well, despite him not being at all interested (and someone that Emma hates).  Grayson works very hard to convince Emma to give him a chance.  There’s just one problem.

Grayson grew up with just his father.  His mother was caught cheating by his father when Grayson was 10 and she left.  After the divorce, Grayson’s father, Arnold, started to use women and treat them like playthings, and convinced Grayson that he shouldn’t be with a woman because they are not trustworthy.  Honestly, this part of the story pissed me off.  I didn’t like Grayson’s father at all, and sidebar – his storyline had no resolution – he just sort of disappeared.

Anyway, Grayson struggled with commitment, but at the same time, was selfish and wanted Emma around.  So much so that when an opportunity opened up in Atlanta that Emma was perfect for, Grayson didn’t tell her about it.  Kind of a dick move on his part, but I digress.

The ending was a bit predictable in my opinion, and felt rushed.  We got to 90% and there still wasn’t a resolution.  I would have preferred a meatier epilogue, but the one we got was good.

This was an overall fun read and I would recommend it.

Happy reading.
