His Rules by Scott Hildreth

Goodreads Summary

his rulesMy endeavors to find the right man had afforded me countless hookups, infidelity, and a handful of one-night-stands.

Then, Marc Watson stepped into my life. He was handsome, and not the kind that could be satisfied by simply taking a second look. Hell, men like him graced the covers of magazines and were the subject of every woman’s dreams. He was also intellectual and kind. The. Complete. Package.  But. He had this ridiculous rule.

To get a shot at him, I had to agree to be in a no sex relationship for thirty days. Making it thirty minutes without having sex with him would be a stretch. Thirty days would be impossible.

It was the opposite of everything I had done in the past, but he assured me if I could comply, the reward would be mind-blowing.

I’d never been one to back down from a challenge, so I took the deal.  Little did I know that doing so would change my life forever.

Wow. Just wow.

This book has amazingly good ratings and reviews on goodreads, and for good reason.  It’s incredibly good.

Taryn Fisher is a woman in her early thirties going through the motions, and men.  She meets Marc Watson, and goes home with him.  She is drunk, and thinks he’s a killer (because his house is so clean and void of paintings/pictures), so she leaves.  She feels bad, and goes back to the bar to find him and “start over”.

Marc is not a serial killer.  Quite the opposite, in fact.  He’s a detective.  Marc is an unusual guy.  He’s a little OCD (okay, a lot) and has very strict criteria for what he’s looking for in a woman.  He tells Taryn they can’t have sex until after 30 days.

Taryn is put off by this, of course.  What she doesn’t realize is how much the next 30 days will change her life.

Marc and Taryn both changed so much during this book.  Watching their character development was quite fascinating.  I really liked the concept of getting to know each other first, before jumping into bed.  I truly believe it would make the experience so much better.

Marc is awesome.  I just loved him.  He’s very caring and sweet, and I loved the young girl he had breakfast with everyday, Charlee.  She was a great character, and added a lot to the story.

Taryn was a great character as well.  She was funny as hell, but also realized that the way she had been living her life wasn’t the most productive.  Marc’s family was great as well.

Overall, just a wonderful story of two people finding each other.  No extra drama or stupid stuff, just a real, grown up story.  Loved it and would highly recommend.

Happy reading.
