Book Review – Ryan by Jessica Gadziala

She was perfect:
Sweet, smart, awkwardly adorable, and beautiful as hell.
The only problem was:
she was terrified to leave her apartment.
And, apparently, she had somehow gotten herself wrapped up with some pretty bad guys to boot.

He was perfect:
He was a living, breathing, walking, talking statue come to life.
But when would a man like that ever want to be with a woman who was too anxious to even walk into the hallway? Let alone go on a date with him. Or meet the family he was so close with.
That being said, he seemed interested for some reason.
So obviously, he was just as crazy as I was.
On top of that whole confusion situation, something was going on with my business partners. And things were about to go straight to hell…

4 out of 5 stars

I loved Shane, so I was excited to give Ryan a try.  When I read the blurb, and realized there was a mental illness as part of the topic, I was worried.  Turns out I had nothing to be worried about, because the author handled the topic beautifully.

Dusty suffers from agoraphobia, which is the fear of leaving her house.  If you’ve seen the TV show Shameless, you know it’s what Sheila suffers from.  It’s a pretty scary thing to be afraid to leave your house.

Turns out Dusty didn’t really have a choice in the matter, when a carbon monoxide scar forces her neighbor, Ryan Mallick, but throw her over his shoulder, while carrying her cat, to save her life.

Turns out Dusty isn’t as squeaky clean as we thought.  Her best friend, Bry, uses her house to store his drug stash.  Dusty has a break in, where she’s beaten but the drug dealers, and is saved again by Ryan.

Ryan was quite the saint.  He really dealt with Dusty’s issues with kit gloves.  He did a lot of research so he could understand the disease, and while there isn’t a cure, he just wanted Dusty to make progress.  Dusty was a very strong person, much stronger then the character of Sheila on Shameless, and I loved her.  She and Ryan together were pure gold.

I love this series, and I would recommend it to anyone.  I’m going to read her MC series as well.

Happy reading.
