Book Review – Some Sort of Crazy by Melanie Harlow

Goodreads Summary

When a psychic tells Natalie Nixon her life is about to be upended by a mysterious stranger, she laughs it off. After all, she has everything she’s ever wanted—a successful bakery, a the perfect boyfriend, and the keys to her dream house.  Then Miles Haas comes back to town. some sort of crazy

But he’s no stranger—they’ve known each other since high school. Plus, he’s only around for the summer, he’s still a shameless playboy, and he makes a living writing articles for a men’s magazine with titles like ‘Should You Bang the Boss’s Daughter? A Flowchart’ and ‘Butt Stuff for Beginners: A Field Guide.’  He’s not the man of her dreams, and she’s not about to abandon everything she’s worked so hard for just for a little fun. Except he makes her laugh like no one else, smells like heaven, and looks sexy as hell in those panty-melting glasses.

4 out of 5 stars

Some Sort of Crazy is the second book in the Crazy Happy Love series, and this book focuses on sister Natalie, the owner of the little diner from book one.  Natalie has been dating her boyfriend Dan for 10 years; since high school.  They are in a rut, both emotionally and sexually.  It was obvious to me even in book one that Dan was cheating on her; she was just too content with things to see it.

Nat and her sisters go to a psychic on a drunken evening, and the psychic tells Nat that she is about to meet a handsome stranger who will upend her life.  Enter Miles Haas – Miles is no stranger to Nat – they’ve been friends for years.  Though she didn’t realize that Miles was his middle name…

Nat finally dumps her cheating boyfriend.  Miles convinces her to take a few days off from her shop, and they go to Detroit, where Miles lives.  While they are there, Miles realizes he is developing feelings for Nat – Miles doesn’t do feelings.  He’s more of a love ’em and leave ’em kind of guy – and Natalie knows that all too well.

I liked this book much more than the first – mainly because Nat and Miles were more realistic then Skylar and Sebastian.  Their quick, fun banter made this book good.  There were no catty committees and people giving Nat a hard time for something as stupid as they were in book one.

The ending was a little annoying, I’ll admit.  Nat was acting like an uber bitch for a while, but the book ended on a good note, and I was happy.  I will be reading book 3 soon.

Happy reading.
